Way back in the year 2005 a group of visionary individuals from Shangpung Village convened a meeting to address the educational challenges faced by the students in and around their community. A formal meeting was held on 16th July 2005 where youths and leaders resolved to refer the proposal to the Synjuk Ki Dorbar Shnong Shangpung, the Village Council, to explode the feasibility of establishing the College. After a lapse of two years Shangpung College was established on the 23rd July 2007 in which the Synjuk ki Dorbar Shangpung has agreed to be the Sponsoring Body of the College. Shangpung College is located in Nongrim, Shangpung, West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya. The main objective for setting up of the college is to serve for the higher educational needs of the aspiring and disadvantages students. Shangpung College was duly registered under the Meghalaya Society Registration Act XII of 1983 vide No. SR/JH/SPC-1094/62 of 2010.
