CAREER GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING CELL

Career Guidance and Counselling Cell of the college is the cell given Guidance to students to help them acquire the Knowledge, information, skills and experience necessary to identify Career options and narrow them down to make one career decision. This career decision then results in their well-being throughout.

Objective: 

1. To Inspire and guide the Students in Setting Clear Career goals and Creating Effective plans to achieve their aspirations.

2. Make students aware of the latest trends and needs of the Government and Private Sector.

3. Provide Career Guidance from External Expert.

Prospects:

1. Career Readiness: Helping students become more confident and prepared for Career Development.

2. Career Planning: Helping students set Career Goals and Develop plans to achieve them.

3. Networking: Helping students build networks with Corporate and Agency.


GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL CELL

The Grievance Redressal Cell (GRC) aims to look into the complaints lodge by any students and redress it as per requirement. The students and the staffs can state their grievance regarding any academic and non-academic matter within the campus through the suggestion box installed in the college campus. The Institution aims at solving the grievance of the students within stipulated time.

Grievance Redressal system is a vital part of any administration. It is the responsibility of the college Administration to provide a secure and contented environment to all its staff and students. The Grievance Redressal Committee has been formed in the college as per the UGC guideline to redress the grievance of both the staff and the students.

Objectives of Grievance Redressal Cell
The objective of Grievance Cell is to develop a harmonious relation between all the stakeholders. The cell has been constituted for the redressal of the problems reported by the students of the college with the following objective: -

1. To encourage the students to express their grievance/problems freely and frankly, without any fear of being victimized.
2. To create an atmosphere where students of the college respect the right and dignity of one another and show utmost restraint and patience whenever any occasion of rift arises.
3. To ensure effective solution to the students grievance with an impartial and fair approach.
4. To uphold the dignity of the college by ensuring strife free atmosphere in the college through promotion of cordial stud put- student relationship and student-teacher relationship.
5. Advising all staff to be affectionate to the students and not behave in a vindictive manner towards any of them for any reason.
6. To co-ordinate between students, teachers and administration to redress the grievances.
7. To guide ways and means to students in order to redress their problems.
8. To enlightens the students on their duties and responsibilities to access benefits due under the policies.

The committee consists of the following staff members.

Functions of the Grievance Redressal Cell
1. To accept written grievances from students and staff related to the system.
2. To create and implement a mechanisms to handle the reported grievances.
3. To forward the findings to the management if necessary for further action.
4. To listen record and scrutinize the grievances submitted to them by the staff and students and take necessary steps immediately.
5. To attend to the grievances based on the authenticity and gravity of the criticisms made.
6. To represent the grievances to the concerned section which may include maintenance, transport, academic, amenities etc.
7. To convene periodical meetings to discuss whether the grievances have been settled.
8. To make a follow-up of these matters at regular intervals till their final disposal.
9. To maintain strict confidentiality, if necessary.

Mechanism of the GRC
1. Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) shall consider only individual grievances of specific nature of students and staff.
2. The members of the Grievance Redressal Cell meet once a month to open the suggestion box.
3. Post receipt of the complaint/application the committee will decide on the merit of case regarding scope of further discussions investigation and act promptly.
4. The complaints/suggestions are made aware to the Principal and the convener of the cell addressed the complaints/suggestions to the concerned departments, cells, committee for necessary action.
5. The GRC may mediate between complainant and defendant against who the complaint has been made, it required.
6. The concerned departments, cells, committees are required to respond back to the cell within 15 (fifteen) days regarding the complaints or suggestions made by the students and the staffs.


WOMEN CELL

Shangpung College Women Cell, aims to provide and maintain a healthy, safety and supportive environment for female students, faculty and staff. It also aims to enrich and to uplift women’s student intellectually.
Main objectives:
1. The college aims to promote a culture of respect and equality for women.
2. To make the campus a safe place for women and to provide a healthy learning environment.
3. To build self – esteem and self - confidence among women’s student, faculty and staff.
4. To raise awareness about women’s right.
5. To promote awareness of women related social issues, health, employment and gender discrimination.
6. To empower women by equipping them with knowledge, skills and confidence.
7. To encourage critical thinking and to foster decision – making abilities.


ANTI-RAGGING CELL

About

To address and curb the menace of ragging, the University Grants Commission has enacted the ‘UGC Regulation on curbing the menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009’. In accordance with this regulation, Shangpung College has constituted the Anti-Ragging Cell on the 20th August 2024 to ensure that ragging does not take place anywhere in the campus.

Anti-Ragging Cell will be the monitoring agency in preserving a Ragging Free environment in the College Campus. The main objectives of this cell are as follows:

I. To make the students aware of the dehumanising effect of ragging.

II. To keep a continuous watch and vigil over students so as to prevent the occurrence and recurrence of ragging.

III. To promptly and stringently take up the incidents of ragging brought to notice.

IV. To generate an atmosphere of discipline by sending a clear message that no act of ragging shall be tolerated and any act of ragging shall not go unnoticed and unpunished.

Policies

1.      Zero Tolerance Policy

• Strict prohibition of any form of ragging, including physical, psychological or verbal abuse.

• Immediate disciplinary action up to and including suspension or expulsion, for those found guilty of participating in ragging.

2.      Definition of Ragging

• Clear definition of ragging as any act that involves harassment, humiliation, or bullying of junior students by seniors or peers.

• Ragging is categorized into physical, verbal, and cyber ragging.

3.      Awareness and Sensitization

Conduct Orientation programme for students, staff, and faculty about the consequences of ragging and the importance of maintaining a ragging-free environment.

Activities Conducted

The Cell in order to implement its objective had implemented:

1.The mandatory filling up of the Anti-Ragging Undertaking by every student taking admission.

2.Orientation Programme of 1st Semester students as a platform to generate awareness amongst the students.
