ACADEMIC COMMITTEE
The Academic Committee comprises of the Principal, Vice Principal, IQAC Coordinator and all the Heads of Department. The Committee looks into matters concerning academic advancement and assessment to contribute to the efficient operation of the college. The Committee also looks into the teaching requirements for successful completion of academic programmes of the college and supervising the same periodically.
ADMISSION COMMITTEE
The Admission Committee includes the Principal, Vice Principal and all Heads of Department. The objective of this committee is to see into the efficient and transparent function of the college admission procedure. The committee also offers counselling on the content of the programmes offered by the College.
ANNUAL REPORT COMMITTEE
The Annual Report Committee duty is to regularly gather reports from the various departments, cells, and clubs in order to compile them as required and to produce the report to the concern body annually.
LIBRARY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Committee includes the Principal, Library Assistant, IQAC Coordinator and all Heads of Department. The aim and objective of the Library Advisory Committee is to ensure an effective and adequate functioning of the library and to organise the library collection to provide a more productive environment for teaching and learning. The committee also evaluate the suggestions made by the library users. It formulates the policy for library, use and procedure to be framed. The committee assist the Library Assistant in providing need-based information services.
SEMINAR AND RESEARCH COMMITTEE
The objective of the Seminar
committee is to develop research and analytical skills among students and
faculties and to enhance their presentation skills. The committee will also try
to build good relations with stakeholders through sponsorship and participation
and to find the suitable organization for collaboration. The committee also aim
to conduct workshops/special lectures on research and publications.
The Primary aim of the Research
Committee is to encourage, facilitate and enhance research activities in the
College both among faculty members as well as students. The committee also aim
to promote and encourage research in certain areas identified by the College. The
Research Committee also focused on establishing an Inter-Disciplinary Journal
for the college, which will serve as a platform for faculty and students to
showcase their research endeavours. The College will attempt to develop
meaningful linkages with research institutions, both government and private,
and esteemed publication houses.
DISASTER MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
Disaster Management Committee is a critical aspect of ensuring the safety and well being of communities worldwide. The frequency and severity of natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods etc have increased significantly over the past decade. In addition to natural disasters human disaster like industrial accidents etc also pose significant threats. To mitigate these risks, Shangpung College has established a disaster Management Committee.
Aim of Disaster Management Committee
The aim of Disaster Management Committee is to ensure the safety and well being of students, staff and faculty by mitigating preparing for, responding to and recovering from disaster and emergencies. The Committee also aims at:
1. Establishing a Disaster Management Committee Plan- To develop comprehensive procedures for various emergencies including natural disaster and medical.
2. Training and Education -To provide regular training for students and faculty on disaster preparedness.
3. Identity Hazards- To conduct assessments, recognise potential risks on campus and implement strategies.
Objective of Disaster Management Committee
1. Minimize harm to people, property and the environment.
2. Ensure timely response and relief operations.
3. Enhance community resilience and capacity to respond to disaster.
ATTENDANCE COMMITTEE
The Attendance Committee of Shangpung College, is responsible for monitoring and managing students attendance from time to time. The committee aims to encourage students to attend classes regularly by highlighting the importance of attendance in academic performance and overall learning.
LITERARY COMMITTEE CUM EDITORIAL BOARD
The Literary committee cum Editorial Board constitutes of the Principal, Vice Principal, IQAC Coordinator and other teaching faculty members. The committee is established as a platform for young minds to exhibit their passion and enhance their literary skills. It intends to help students enrich their speaking and listening abilities that aid in personality development through participation in various literary events and activities organized by the college as well as those inter-colleges events. The role of the Editorial Board is to develop and maintain publication of college magazine, journals, articles and newsletters.
The committee organizes various literary activities such as essay writing, extempore speech, debate, painting and drawing during the annual college week. It also hold other skill development activities that shall propagate students writing skills, enhance confidence in communicative skill and enrich budding creative artist.
Objectives:
• Encourage aspiring students to be part of the literary activities.
• Enhance spontaneity and originality in expression of work of art building confidence through interactions and activities.
• Promote reading and writing and encourage independent research.
• Explore ideas, opinions and perspectives .
EXAMINATION BRANCH
At Shangpung College, the Examination Branch is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and excellence. We ensure that all assessment processes are conducted smoothly, fairly, and transparently, aligning with the institution's commitment to providing quality education.
The College Examination Branch at Shangpung College, examinations are conducted twice a year in alignment with Northeastern Hill University’s academic calendar, with the Even Semester Examination taking place from April to May and the Odd Semester Examination from November to December. Each theory exam is designed to last either three hours (75 marks) or two and a half hours (56 marks), covering a wide range of subjects including Economics, Education, English, History, Khasi, Political Science, and various courses aimed at skill enhancement and vocational training.
Students are registered online through the NEHU Oasis platform, with notifications about upcoming examinations posted on the college notice board and website one month in advance. The Examination Committee, led by the College Examination Officer (Principal) and supported by assistant officers, serves as the primary contact for inquiries.
Our examination format adheres to NEHU’s standard procedures, integrating Continuous Internal Assessment and External Assessment, with assessments consisting solely of short and descriptive questions. To maintain exam integrity, we implement strict supervision protocols, with two invigilators assigned for every 24 students, along with rigorous security measures, including ID checks and verification of admit cards.
We actively seek feedback from students and faculty to foster continuous improvement and have established contingency plans to address unforeseen events, ensuring that appropriate procedures are in place for online assessments if necessary. Overall, the College Examination Branch is committed to promoting fairness, transparency, and academic excellence, providing a seamless examination experience that enhances student engagement and learning outcomes while reflecting our dedication to high educational standards.
