The department of political science at Shangpung College was established in 2007. It dedicates its work towards imparting knowledge to students to foster comprehensive understanding of political system, governance, public policies, International Relations and political theory. Over the years, the degree programme offered by the department consists of both pass and honours courses. Now, under the FYUP- NEP 2020 frame work, the department provides courses in Multidisciplinary studies and Skill Enhancement across various semesters, equipping students to critical and logical thinking skills, leadership and communication skills in facing challenges of political and social issues.

3.    To promote analytical skills to analyse political ideologies, policies and institutions.

1.The department aims to provide quality education in political science to students, with special consideration for those who come from poor family backgrounds and rural areas.

2. To prepare students to become informed citizens and future leaders.

3. To engage students more effectively in debates and in the decision – making process.
